Jos 10:12-13 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: \u201cSun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.\u201d So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.<\/p>\n
When the five kings of the Amorites – the king of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon joined forces , they moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it. The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: \u201cDo not abandon your servants ,
\ncome up to us quickly and save us . So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army including all the best fighting men. It was during the fight that he ordered the sun to stop so that darkness won’t hinder him from avenging against his enemies .<\/p>\n
The occurrence of day and night is as a result of the earth rotating about its axis . The movement of the sun across the sky is as a result of this rotation . When faith loaded man of God Joshua ordered the sun to stop,what he actually did was to pause the spinning of the earth!<\/p>\n
When God moves into action on behalf of his beloved , all the natural and supernatural occurrences align with Him to hold any form of darkness that can delay His vengeance . Though there has never been a day like it before or since,but to us who believe, great work and miracles are at our disposal . Jesus said , “Verily verily I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these ”<\/p>\n
