{"id":3988,"date":"2022-09-12T03:11:41","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T03:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pastoralcarecenter.org\/newsletter\/wordpress\/?p=3988"},"modified":"2022-09-12T03:11:41","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T03:11:41","slug":"comfort-yes-comfort-my-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastoralcarecenter.org\/newsletter\/wordpress\/2022\/09\/12\/comfort-yes-comfort-my-people\/","title":{"rendered":"COMFORT, YES, COMFORT MY PEOPLE !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Isa 40:1 &#8220;Comfort, yes, comfort My people!&#8221; says your God.<br \/>\nIsa 40:2 &#8220;Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord&#8217;s hand double for all her sins.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Though the hearer of God&#8217;s word is not outrightly identified, it&#8217;s best to see these words directed to Prophet Isaiah. God&#8217;s people were proceeding to the so called &#8221; Babylonian captivity &#8220;. The word addresses Isaiah as if he was living at the time of the future exile. He tells him to speak to Jerusalem (Israelites) in such a way as to remove the troubles of the heart; to furnish consolation and joy ( godtube.com)<\/p>\n<p>And he gives those in exile a message of hope; that there is a cessation of  warfare &#8211;  that her warfare is ended. In addition to this, there is no more enmity between them and God, a pardon  without which they would have no hope. And lastly he  promises abundant blessings as a result of their sufferings. God was going to uphold his people until they saw Him!<\/p>\n<p>Its true we have gone through hard times. By the grace of God, we went through devastating times during the<br \/>\nCovid &#8211; 19 pandemic. Then came the Russian &#8211; Ukrainian war that pushed up the inflation rate making life unbearable to many .
