Gen 22:14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The- Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of The LORD it shall be provided.”<\/p>\n
Abraham had just gone through one of the most difficult test of his life. Despite Isaac being his only child, Abraham obeyed God’s command to offer him a sacrifice. In the right time God intervened and prevented the act from taking place. The Lord provided a substitute sacrifice, a ram ( Gen 22:1-13).<\/p>\n
Abraham commemorated the place by calling it, ” In the mountain of the Lord it shall be provided”. It is Abraham who who called the name of that place, Jehovah – Jireh: ie the Lord will provide. When Jehovah – Jireh appeared on this mountain, he did not only provide a ram to Abraham but also promised to bless him, multiply his descendants and make them possess the gates of their enemies ( Gen 22:17).<\/p>\n
Like Abraham, if we devote ourselves whole heartedly to God ” In the mountain of the Lord, it shall be provided”. We need not be anxious about life, what we will eat, drink, put on etc Our heavenly Father is aware of all this. He knows that you need a job, a promotion, healing, a family or even a house . He still remain Jehovah – Jireh. He provides as a father ought – exactly those things that are best for his children without hesitation and always at the right time. ( Bible Study Tools)<\/p>\n
