You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food.&#8221;2Sa 12:22 So he said, &#8220;While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, &#8216;Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?&#8217;2Sa 12:23 &#8220;But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>David had a newborn baby that was sick and close to death. David fasted for seven days and seven nights for the baby. For the whole duration, he did not eat anything and did not get up from the floor. His men were so worried about him and persuaded him to eat something but he declined .On the seventh day, they came in with the bad news that the baby had died.<\/p>\n<p>They were not sure of how David would respond but when he heard the news he got up from the ground, went to his house, took a shower,  ate some food and went to the temple to worship. His men were so challenged on how quickly the king would bounce back but he explained to them that the child was already dead and even if he went on mourning, he could not bring him back to life.
