Deu 6:12 then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.<\/p>\n
Beware is to be on one\u2019s guard; to be cautious; to take care; to heed; to have a special regard. The Israelites were cautioned not to forget the great doings of the Lord who delivered them from the land of bondage where they boomed in oppression and exploitation by their taskmasters. God saw and heard their cries caused by their oppressors. God purposed not only to deliver them but also to bring them to a land flowing with abundance. It was at this point that the caution was given.<\/p>\n
It is in human nature to easily forget moments of suffering once we cross over to the other side of victory . Majority of us suffer from \u201cselective amnesia\u201d. When we are down struggling, we cry passionately to God pledging to forever serve Him should he deliver us from trouble. Tendencies of forgetting where God got us from is overwhelming. We are tempted to behave like it is our hard work, education, efforts, connections, fervent prayers or even sheer luck.<\/p>\n
It is easier to be caught up in the web of success and worship our victory as we disregard the doings of the Lord. Pride creeps in and we boast of our achievements forgetting the faithful God who has walked with us. May we return back to the one who heard our cries and delivered us from the pit of agony. As we enjoy the breakthroughs in life, may we not forget that it is the mighty Hand of the Lord that delivered us.<\/p>\n
