Num 13:29 “Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.<\/p>\n
There are some words in English that can change the entire context of a sentence, a conversation , even the outcome of an entire situation. One of those words is ” nevertheless “. When this word is used at the end of either a positive or a negative sentence, it serves to mark a transition to something new ( Steven Shubert).<\/p>\n
The first thing the spies did was to give a report of the land – wonderful as God had said. The promised land was surely overflowing with milk and honey. Indeed, they even carried the exhibits – the fruits – to prove that the land was extremely fruitful . But then they added ” nevertheless “. Out of the twelve spies, ten of them had a defeatist mentality. And this changed the entire situation!<\/p>\n
By the use of ” Nevertheless” , the tenor of the report quickly changed to a negative assessment of the possibility of conquering the heavily fortified cities and the numerous inhabitants, which included giants . What we believe about ourselves significantly affects what we become. Although in the natural it may seem impossible, with God all things are possible.<\/p>\n
