Hebrews 11:24-26 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh\u2019s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.<\/p>\n
When Moses was of age, he choose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sins purportedly enjoyed by the Egyptians. By doing so, he had to intentionally, knowingly and willingly decline the Egyptian wealth and luxury and choose to suffer with God’s people for an over arching reason.<\/p>\n
By faith, he knew that the pleasures of Egypt were for a short time gain and hence set his eyes on that which was of eternal value . Moses decided to forsake all that because he was looking ahead for a reward. To remain in the palace would have been pleasurable, but sinful_ . The hardship this would bring is temporary, but the blessings received through Jesus are eternal .<\/p>\n
Its natural for human beings to desire privileges and pleasure which are available but short lived. As believers, we must be willing to sacrifice pleasure for long term gains. We must be able to fathom the many blessings and opportunities we may forfeit by indulging in short-term momentary pleasures. The psalmist declares ” I would Rather be a door keeper in the house of the Lord than dwell in the tents of wickedness ” Psa 84:10<\/p>\n
