Although Jesus had an opportunity to open his mouth and defend his righteousness, he chose to remain silent. As they they cursed him and spat on him on the cross, because of his love for mankind, he remained silent.<\/p>\n
Jesus teaching and example helps us to determine when to speak and when to remain silent. John English Lee, in his sermon ” When to keep silent” helps us to know when to speak and when remain silent:<\/p>\n
Be silent when you cannot control what you say ( Pro 29:11)
\nBe silent until you’ve heard the end of a matter(Pro 18:13)
\nBe silent when you haven’t verified the story (Deu 17:16)
\nBe silent when your words will offend a weaker brother(1Co 8:11)
\nBe silent when you are tempted to make light of the holy things ( Ecc 5:2)
