Psa 114:7 (NKJV) \u2013 \u201cTremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.\u201d<\/p>\n
When God moves, human pride is shaken, and worldly power bows. Pharaoh once defied God, saying, \u201cWho is the Lord, that I should obey His voice?\u201d (Exod. 5:2). Yet when God stretched out His hand, Egypt\u2019s idols failed, its river turned to blood, and its ruler was left helpless before the Lord\u2019s command. The same mouth that boasted was silenced by the hand of judgment. When God moves, arrogance gives way to awe.<\/p>\n
King Nebuchadnezzar also learned that divine sovereignty cannot be challenged. In his pride, he declared, \u201cIs not this great Babylon that I have built?\u201d (Dan. 4:30). But before his words faded, God humbled him, and the greatest ruler of his day was driven from his throne to live like a beast until he acknowledged that \u201cthe Most High rules in the kingdom of men\u201d (Dan. 4:32). The trembling of kings is the mercy of God reminding men that greatness without reverence is emptiness.<\/p>\n
In the New Testament, Herod sat in royal splendor and received the praise of the crowd, who cried, \u201cThe voice of a god and not of a man!\u201d Yet Scripture says, \u201cImmediately an angel of the Lord struck him\u201d (Acts 12:23). The same God who shook Egypt and Babylon silenced Herod\u2019s pride in a moment. When God moves, even the mighty tremble\u2014not out of terror alone, but in recognition that all power belongs to Him. The proud fall, but the humble stand secure in His presence.<\/p>\n
