Come, my people, into your secret places, and let your doors be shut .keep your self safe for a short time, till his wrath is over (Isaiah 26:20)
These words were uttered against a backdrop of Assyrian and Babylonian tyranny. God may have allowed the afflictions on Israel because of their failure to acknowledge Him.
They were shut(quarantined) from the world not to punish them but give them an opportunity to obey, trust, honor and remember his great works.
Yahweh exhorts his people to hide themselves in their chambers by submissive faith and obedience until the indignation is past.
Indeed this is Godβs way of slowing this hasty man and showing him all else is not as important as a perfect relationship with Him.
The hiding is for a short moment; a little while. When it will be over , it will seem as if it was not there at all. You will Wonder how soon it is gone.
