Ex 3:3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
Moses had run away to hide from Pharaoh. He got a job of a shepherd and tending the flock at Mount Horeb. A strange experience drew his attention and he turned to observe what was happening. Little did Moses know that this was God’s appointment.
God is a consuming fire. The bush was not consumed so were His people in bondage not consumed by the affliction they faced. Your current hardships will not break your back but make you stronger as the Lord is planning on how to deliver you.
Tending flocks was not a prestigious job but a lowly post. This shows us that God sometimes picks on the weak situations and persons to glorify Himself.
1Co 1:27 …. God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
Curiosity led Moses to inquire of the extraordinary happening. This led him to encounter the God of miracles, signs and wonders. As he drew nigh, God gave him a divine assignment.
The bush was not consumed. Yahweh is preserving his people in the midst of those things that have a natural tendency to destroy them. 2Co 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
