Nehemiah 10:39
“For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.”
This was a solemn pledge that was made by the Jews who had returned from captivity. After a time of prayer and repentance they resolved not to neglect the temple. They agreed that they were going to give the first and the best to God.
They resolved that they would always give the grain offerings, the offering of the new wine and oil, the first fruits of their land and animals, regular burnt offerings for the set feasts and all their tithes (Neh 10:32-38). All these were to be brought into the storerooms of the temple for use by all those who served therein.
With or without the pandemic, with lockdown or not, we will not forsake the temple of our God. We will use every available platform to pay our tithes and offerings. Luk 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
