Mat 8:2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Mat 8:3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
The Old Testament required that lepers be isolated from the society. By kneeling before Jesus and addressing him as “Lord ” means the leper recognized Jesus as being by far more than an ordinary man.
The leper uttered the words: ” if you are willing, you can make me clean…” His confidence in Jesus’ ability to heal hints that his act of worship involved full recognition of Jesus’ deity. Jesus could have healed him from a distance by sending a word but out of love and compassion ,he touched and healed him.
Jesus is willing ” to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power *that works in us. (Eph 3:20) Today he is not only willing to touch and heal us but also to do immeasurably more than we ask. He came so that we may have life and have it in it’s fullness.
