2Sa 23:9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated.
2Sa 23:10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder.
Eleazar the Ahohite was one of the three mighty men that were with David in his wars. He was second of the three valiant men that fought with him. David’s men and the Philistines had gathered together for battle. It is recorded that the men of fled from the battle most likely because they sensed defeat.
However, Eleazar the son of Dodo stood his ground. He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary and his hand clave to his sword. Through him, Jehovah wrought great victory for the Israelites on that day. The other soldiers only came back later to plunder.
All of us have been enlisted in the army of the Lord and we do not wage war against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
When the battle rages, true Christian soldiers do not give up. They do not withdraw or retire in the face of or action with the enemy. They are resilient and do not give up. A good soldier endures hardship, is courageous, is spiritually fit and does not negotiate with the devil. We must continue fighting the good fight of faith.Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,And every tongue which rises against you in judgmentYou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
