Matt 1:23“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”(NKJV)
These were words spoken to Joseph by an angel in a dream as he contemplated to leave Mary since she was found to be with child and not cause her public shame. The Phrase ‘God with us’ is in the present tense. We should not be afraid or feel forsaken.
This fulfills the great promise that God gave us ;Deu 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. ”
The Christmas season is a great reminder of this promise. In merry making time, or in hardship times, God’s promise still stands; He is with us, He will never leave us nor forsake us!
