1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
When it comes to matters of love( agape), we are not requested to love one another, neither is it a suggestion. This is a command . Mar 12:31 “And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Above everything else, we are to love one another deeply because love covers a multitude of sins. Love does not major on other people’s weaknesses and faults . 1Co 13:5 love… Is not rude, it’s not self seeking, it’s not easily angered, does not keep a record of wrongs ” . Unfortunately, many of us nurture hurts and offenses in our minds for years!
The statement ” above all things” makes love a priority above all other virtues. Love covers a multitude of sins! It overlooks unkindness and will always seek the best for others. We must love one another to the point of overlooking some of those faults that might bring division in our midst.
