Isa 64:8 But now ,O LORD,thou art our father;we are the clay, and thou our potter and we all are the work of thy hand.
The verse metaphorically portrays God as the potter and us as the clay. It shows trans-formative work that God desires to do in our lives when we willfully surrender to His loving and skillful hands.
God is the creator and keeper of everything and we are the works of His hand. Being the potter, God has sole wisdom and the ability to shape us according to His pleasure . We have to recognise His authority and surrendering ourselves to His loving guidance is the first step to experiencing His transformative work in us.
Being the clay in God’s hands , we must be ready to yield to Him. Our yielding to him is not a sign of weakness but a show of trust and faith in Him.To trust the potter, we must let go all our selfish desires and control and let Him shape us according to His will. After the process, we are to become the product that he intended from the very beginning.
Just as every vessel crafted by a potter serves a unique function,God has a purpose for everyone of us. It is prudent we trust the potter and allow Him to work in our lives. When we do so ,we will be aligning ourselves with Gods intended purpose for our lives. He never make a mistake ;just trust in Him.
