Luk 18:3 “Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Avenge me of my adversary.’ Luk 18:4 “And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, Luk 18:5 ‘yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”
What propels us to persist is the deep seated sense of determination. Persistence is resilience and determination of not giving up as you pursue what has your name tag on. Persistence increases our confidence and reliance on God and deepens our fellowship with him. In the course of time , the Lord takes note of our persistence and rewards us.
Jesus tells of a parable of a widow who appealed to an unjust judge for justice. The judge neither feared God nor cared about man. He was an evil man who treated men without mercy or justice . The widow only means of gaining justice was persistence. At the end , through persistence, she obtained justice. We should be persistent in prayer and not become discouraged and give up!
Persistence gives one some vital experience coupled with the sense of not giving up. It motivates us to try harder and teaches us to value success. With each failure, you learn what you need to do differently the next time you tried. At the same time , you become a role model of those around your sphere of influence.
