Psa 23:4 Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff , they comfort me.
The shepherd’s Psalm 23 is always fresh in the lips of many for its ever uplifting imagery of shepherd -sheep relationship .But of great striking note is verse 4 ,where the sheep are known to go through valley(s) of sunless ,fearful and clueless meanders , cascading falls, canyons and gorges.
Its worth noting that the Psalmist does not permanently own, lodge or elect a tent in the fearful environs ,but categorically states that he passes through. What an encouragement. We all encounter valleys of different nature and intensity .But seldom do we realise that they aren’t part of us but part of our journey.
May the spirit of dwelling in the dreadful valleys never be part of us. Let whatever we experience be part of “going through ” and not “dwelling in”. There is no season that is permanent ; they all have a shelf life . You will soon be past that situation, predicament, sickness or even that ” wilderness “.
