1 Kings 17:5 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.
1 Kings 17:6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.
According to the American Tract Society Dictionary, a raven is a bird similar to the crow, but Larger, and not gregarious. It feeds on dead bodies and in its general characteristics resembles the crow of America. The eyes of it’s victims are the first part to be devoured. It’s not only large but massive with a thick neck, shaggy throat and with a bowie knife of a beak.
This is the first account we have of flesh – meat breakfasts and flesh – meat suppers as the food appointed by the Lord for a man of God. Elijah had but one meal divinely delivered to him every morning and every evening. This was done at a time when God had shut the heavens and the drought ravaged the land. The food was brought intact by the ravens. From the source to the recipient, nothing went missing. They did not eat the meat or pluck out his eyes.
We are living at a time of the much hyped high inflation rate, poor cash flow, looming job loses and high taxes. But those who trust in the Lord will never suffer lack. The heavenly stores are still full and God will cause our blessings couriers to deliver them to you intact. Those who carry your blessings will not tamper with them. Although “ravens” neglect their own young ones and do not feed them, God will cause those men, women , ministries and organisations to deliver safely what belongs to you!
