2 Chr 20:21,22 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:“Praise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.” Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
Often in life, it seems that we face situations where the numbers are not in our favor. Circumstances, people , statistics, time, etc can all seem to be working against us. Feeling outnumbered, alone , and isolated can breed all types of miseries, including hopelessness, self – pity and despair ( Tony Cooke). When faced with such, it’s important to remember that praising God can turn the tables.
The Moabites, the Ammonites and the Meunites came against King Jehoshaphat and the Israelites . King Jehoshaphat feared this army because he was greatly outnumbered. The king called for a fast and God through Jahaziel assured him of victory. On the day of the battle, he appointed singers unto the Lord to praise the beauty of his holiness. And when they begun to sing and to praise the Lord, the Lord set an ambush against their enemies and they were smitten.
You may be facing a situation where all the odds are not in your favor. The Lord is saying ” Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s ” (2Chr 20:15b). Its time to start praising and worshiping God in truth and in the Spirit and the Lord will set an ambush against the attackers. The enemy cannot stand it when you start praising the Lord.
