TOWERING DIVINE DISTINCTION
Exo 11:7 No destructive plague will harm you .But not a dog will move its tongue against any of the children of Israel, against man or beast, so that you may know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel .’
Amidst this looming judgment, God declares that not even a dog will bark against the Israelites. This vivid image underscores God’s protection over His people, even in the midst of destruction. Just as God shielded Israel from the plagues, He promises to protect those who belong to Him. This protection is not merely physical but encompasses spiritual security as well. God’s distinction is evident in His unwavering commitment to safeguard His people from harm.
The distinction between Egypt and Israel was not just for Israel’s benefit; it was also a testimony to the Egyptians and to the world of who God is. By setting Israel apart, God demonstrated His power, His justice, and His mercy.
Just as He distinguished Israel in Egypt, He distinguishes us today. We do not only enjoy his favour and provision but his divine protection as well. Our distinction should be witnessed in our actions and our character. When we live in a way that honors God, we not only set ourselves apart but also invite others to know the God who makes us distinct.
