2 Ki 20:3 “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
2Ki 20:5 “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.
2 Ki20:6 And I will add to your days fifteen years…
In those days , Hezekiah became sick and the Lord sent a message to him to prepare for death. “It appears from the text that he was smitten with such a disorder as must terminate in death. He was commanded to set his house in order. In other words, he was to write his will and dispose of his affairs because death was at hand.
Hezekiah was a good king. He became the king of Judah at the age of twenty five. He went out of his way to please the Lord. He got rid of local fertility shrines, removed the high places ,cut down the groves and broke into pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made( 2Ki 18:3-4). Although the words of Prophet Isaiah were delivered to him in absolute form, he turned this face towards the wall and reminded God that he had walked before him in truth and with an upright heart and he had done what was good in his sight. Upon receiving this petition, God went out of his way and revoked the verdict. God added unto his days fifteen years
Like Hezekiah, if you go out of your way for God, he will also go out of his way for you. All your good deeds, acts of mercy, selfless service to God and man don’t go unnoticed before him.*Col 3:23,24 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
