Isaiah 54:4 “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth,
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, shame is a painful emotion caused by consciousness of guilt, shortcoming or impropriety. It is a condition of humiliating disgrace or disrepute. It can also be described as something that brings censure or reproach.
God spoke to the Israelites and encouraged them to forget the shame of their younger days. They were encouraged to stop being afraid and embarrassed of their sins because he had already forgiven them.
Many times we focus on our past sins, our mistakes, failures and blunders. Isaiah reminds us that disgrace and shame will be a thing of the past. The scripture says, whoever believes in him will not be put to shame ( Rom 10:11). God has given us a double portion of his everlasting joy. Christ paid the full price hence we no longer need to be ashamed.
