“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” — Luke 12:6-7 (ESV)
We live in a world that places value on material wealth, fame, and external success. Many are surprised to discover that what God prizes most isn’t status or possessions, but the heart and soul of each individual. Think of a precious diamond that has been covered in dirt and grime. Even when it is hidden, its value remains unchanged. Many of us may feel buried under the pressures and expectations of life, but God sees our intrinsic worth.
Society often measures worth by temporary and fragile standards- wealth, beauty, power etc. These things fade and perish. God, however, calls us to live for eternal values that cannot be stolen or destroyed. The worth of a soul, shaped by love, integrity, and faith, is eternal. The world may treat us like commodities, but God’s value system is entirely different. He values us not by our outward achievements but by the worth of our souls. The world might place a low price tag on you, but in God’s economy, your worth is beyond calculation. The ultimate demonstration of our worth is the price Jesus paid on the cross. We often hear the phrase, “Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.” By this standard, our worth is beyond anything we can imagine, for God gave His only Son to redeem us.
We may feel small or insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but God’s perspective is different. He values each of us infinitely and sees the impact we can have on others.Do not place the price tags based on the world standards—money, success, and recognition. But the prize tag may surprise you because God has already placed the highest value on you. To him you are His masterpiece, valued beyond measure and with potential a that surpasses what you or others may see. The world may not recognize your value, but God does. Your worth has been set by the One who made you, redeemed you, and loves you beyond measure. The price tag may surprise you, but in God’s eyes, you are priceless.
