1 Cor 4:1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
1 Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
The word mystery appears thirty nine times in the Bible and predominantly in Apostle Paul’s writings. A mystery in the Bible is something that was hidden in the past but it’s no longer hidden. It’s something that was once concealed but is now revealed( Dr Ron Jones). “Carriers of the mysteries of God” refers to the responsibility accorded to believers to preserve, teach, protect and share the divine truths as revealed by God.
The spiritual truths contained in the Bible are known through revelation. Mysteries are hidden truths that God uses to bless his people. The word of God is a mystery because it’s meaning is hidden from many people. “But the mystery has been revealed to the saints but hidden from the wise and the learned” ( Mat 11:25).
We have been called to be stewards of the mysteries of God. This means that we have been given the responsibility of faithfully managing and sharing the kingdom truths with others. “The secret things belong to the Lord our God but things revealed belong to us and our children” ( Deu 29:29).To us , the secrets of the kingdom have been revealed. Christ is the mystery revealed only to those who believe. God has revealed his word to the saints. We are the custodians of the glorious riches contained in his words.
