Joh 20:27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and reach your hand here and put it into my side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing”.
He earned himself a nick name “The Doubting Thomas” for not believing the testimony of the others. It’s worth noting that in his absence ,the other disciples had experienced evidential first hand witness of Jesus resurrection using the sense of sight (Joh 20:20).
Thomas’ desire for certainty is not to be entirely condemned. Jesus went ahead to quench his demanded evidence. Even today some still search for this conviction . The good news is that the evidence of Christ crucifixion and resurrection are on public display to quench the thirst of “Thomases” . They are not packaged in mere speech and rhetors garnished with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1Cor 2:4-6).
Today we have no wounded hands and feet, neither scarred sides nor marks of thorny crown but revelatory proofs leading us to recognize the presence of the risen Lord. The healing of the sick, transformation of souls ,forgiveness of sinners, resurrection of whatever is dead in our lives , the promise of eternity et al , are all marks and outcomes of his crucifixion.
