Isaiah 43:18 “Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
Who you were is not who you are and who you are is not who you will be. Our past need not hold us down. It does not define who we are any longer. God is always doing new things. Prophet Isaiah brings a message of hope for everyone who is feeling stuck or discouraged.
Dwelling in the past can prevent people from living in the present and seeing what God is doing. Isaiah told the Israelites to forget the former things and not to dwell on the past. He challenged them to look forward to what God had in store for them. God is not limited to what he did in the past. “He will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”
“Leave the past in the past, it came to pass not to stay, live for what today has to offer, not what yesterday has taken away”. Your past was part of the process, it’s not you. Do not have regrets about how it turned out, or the mistakes you made. Your worry and regrets won’t change what is done.( MordyQuote’s post 26-6 2021)
