Isa 58:12“Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.”
This powerful verse was spoken to a remnant of Israel who had endured the pain of captivity in Babylon. After seventy years, the promise of return was not just a promise of freedom—it was a call to restoration. The land they would return to was no longer the prosperous land their ancestors once knew. The cities were in ruins, the walls broken down, and the foundations buried beneath years of desolation.
But God had not forgotten His covenant. Through Isaiah, He declared that those who remained faithful, those who walked in obedience, would be divinely empowered. They would not simply return; they would rebuild. They would be called “Repairers of the Breach”—those who restore what was broken, who bring healing to what had been wounded, and who raise up lasting legacies for future generations.
You and I are called to stand in the gap. To restore the broken altars. To raise up forgotten truths. To bring back the presence of God into places that have become spiritually desolate. We are not just passive observers—we are the restorers of streets to dwell in. Streets of righteousness, streets of justice, streets of peace.
The breaches may be wide—but so is God’s grace. May you become a restorer of paths. May your hands build up what was torn down. May your prayers awaken sleeping hearts. And may the places God has put you in—your family, your workplace, your ministry—experience divine restoration through your obedience.
