Ecc 9:18 βWisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.β
King Solomon, known for his unmatched wisdom, draws a powerful contrast here. He reminds us that victory is not always secured by might, but often by insight. In a world that esteems strength, strategy, and firepower, Scripture elevates wisdom above all. A single wise decision can avert destruction, calm conflict, or save lives where weapons would only escalate tension.
Throughout the Bible, we see wisdom outperform brute force. When King Solomon judged between the two women claiming the same baby, it was not a sword that resolved the dispute, but divine wisdom. When Joseph was sold into Egypt, it was his God-given wisdom that preserved nations in famine. These examples remind us: God’s wisdom is a far more powerful defense than any army.
Beloved, in our daily battlesβwhether in family, ministry, business, or relationshipsβwe are called to choose wisdom over war. Wisdom builds, while pride destroys. Let us seek God’s guidance before acting, listening before speaking, and planning before reacting. A single wise person in a family, church, or nation can turn things around. Let us be that person.
