James 4:14 “For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
Life is brief-like a shadow that fades at sunset. To live well is to live wisely, knowing that every moment counts. The Psalmist prayed, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Ps. 90:12). Short life is a gift-don’t waste it on vanity; invest it in purpose.
But while life is short, eternity is long. Jesus asked, “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mk. 8:36). Earthly gain without eternal preparation is loss. C. S. Lewis said, “Aim at heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in’; aim at earth and you will get neither.”
Live with eternity in mind. Love deeply, serve faithfully, believe firmly. Eternity begins where time ends, and the wise prepare now. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2).
