Job 33:14 For God does speak now one way, now another though man may not perceive it.
Job had complained that God kept him wholly in the dark concerning the meaning of his dealings with him, and therefore concluded he dealt with him as his enemy.
It is an evidence of his gracious design that he is pleased to speak to us of our own concerns, to show us what is our duty and what our interest, what he requires of us and what we may expect from him, to tell us of our faults and warn us of our danger, to show us the way and to lead us in it.
This he does once, yea, twice, that is, again and again; when one warning is neglected he gives another, not willing that any should perish. Precept must be upon precept, and line upon line; it is so, that sinners may be left inexcusable.(Matthew Henry Commentary).
A loving father will continually speak to his children warning them of impending danger.
He will even at times use the rod to save them from hurt or death. Those who are obedient, will heed to the warning, but those whose hearts are hardened, will perish.
As Gods children, we need to be open to hear the voice of God. He may speak to us through dreams, visions, through a friend, His word, inner witness of our spirits, and the nature. God can speak in various ways to people and we need not limit him through the way He chooses to speak to us.
Elijah said there was a fire; God wasn’t in a fire ;There was a horrible wind; God wasn’t in the wind. There was an earthquake; God wasn’t in the earthquake. And then there came a still small voice and God was in the still small voice(1 Kings 19:11-13).Now that was that particular experience, but God can speak and did speak to Moses through the fire. God spoke to the jailer through an earthquake. God can speak in different ways.
The fact is, God is speaking. Am I listening? Am I tuned in?
