Exo 14:13,14 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
The Israelites were facing a major crisis. Before them was the sea and behind them were the Egyptians. They could not turn back towards the direction they came from. They knew very well how powerful and furious the Egyptian army was. Neither could they advance, the Red sea was in front of them.
Some complained and murmured against Moses while others genuinely cried out unto the Lord. Moses gave a seasonable encouragement ; that Jehovah would deliver them and will also bring their pursuers to utter ruins. He directed them to be still and leave it to God and witness God’s deliverance.
When we find ourselves trapped in a hopeless situation, we have to compose ourselves and have great confidence in God. In times of great difficulty, it is prudent to keep our spirits calm and quiet because God will miraculously bring us out.
