2Ki 14:10 “You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in your success, and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall–you and Judah with you?”2Ki 14:11 But Amaziah would not heed. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went out; so he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah. 2Ki 14:12 And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his tent.
Wise believers are farsighted and foresighted . They are able to detect troubles before it occurs. The unwise “trouble the trouble” and in the process gets hurt. They confidently rush on with little regard to the risk and future consequences of their actions.
After king Amaziah conquered Edom, he became proud and arrogant. He sent a message to Jehoash king of Israel saying ” come and let us face one another in battle “. Jehoash did not want war with Amaziah but Amaziah was insistent. So they faced each other at Beth Shemesh. The results were disastrous – Judah was defeated and every man fled to his tent. Amaziah was captured, the wall of Jerusalem broken , gold, silver and all articles found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the kings house plundered. ( 2Ki 14:13-14)
Don’t trouble troubles until trouble troubles you. If you do so, you will be setting yourself for failure. When God grants you success, you must be wise enough to know how to manage it. Pride and arrogance may lead to your down fall. Pro 22:3 A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.
